Leadership
Reverend Dr. John C. Tyus
Rooted in the legacy of its founders, the late Reverend John E. Tyus and Pastor Teresa D. Tyus, World Conquerors through Jesus Christ Ministries (WCTJC) has been a beacon of hope and healing in Columbus, Ohio, since 1992. Today, their son, Rev. Dr. John C. Tyus, alongside his wife Matia Tyus, carries the mantle of leadership as Senior Pastor, guiding a diverse community of believers united by their faith in Jesus Christ.
Rev. Dr. John C. Tyus embodies the very mission of WCTJC: to help families and individuals experience healing and reconciliation through the transformative power of the Gospel. His deep understanding of the importance of family, born from personal experience, fuels his commitment to seeing wholeness restored within individual lives and across generations. This passion extends beyond the church walls through his impactful work as the founder and executive director of The I.D. Movement. This leadership and character development organization focuses on inspiring and developing fatherless Black men into positive role models, a cause close to Dr. Tyus's heart. The I.D. Movement's community events and programs, such as "A Conversation with the Fathers" and the Summer Holistic Approach Programming in partnership with local institutions, demonstrate Dr. Tyus's dedication to tangible community impact. The annual I.D. Movement Experience further underscores his commitment to the holistic development of men.
An accomplished author of "The I.D. Movement Presents; Voices of the Fathers; Letters to the Millennial Leader; Columbus Edition," "Mind Elevation: A Guide to Improving Your Mental Diet in 30 Days," and "Voices of the Sons; Letters from the Emerging Leaders; Columbus Edition," Dr. Tyus is a compelling voice for empowerment and inspiration. His academic achievements, including a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Franklin University, a Master’s in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University, and a Doctorate from The United Theological Seminary with a dissertation focused on mentoring fatherless Black males, ground his practical ministry in scholarly insight.
Dr. Tyus's dedication to community leadership has been recognized with prestigious accolades such as the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Social Justice Award of Ohio, the Courageous Award (2024), and the Central Ohio Honors Faith Leader Award (2024). His work has also been acknowledged by the Ohio House of Representatives for advancing social change, amplifying the reach and impact of his ministry and community initiatives.
Under Dr. Tyus's leadership, WCTJC continues to be a "bridge ministry," connecting individuals to the life-changing power of Jesus Christ. The church's five pillars – Prayer, Word, Worship, Outreach, and Discipleship – form the foundation of its vibrant ministries, which range from dynamic worship services and targeted men's and women's ministries to impactful outreach initiatives and dedicated youth and children's programs. Recognizing the unique gifts within its congregation, WCTJC encourages active participation through ministries like the Music Ministry, Hospitality Team, Media Team, and more, fostering a unified and cohesive church family.
World Conquerors through Jesus Christ, under the visionary leadership of Rev. Dr. John C. Tyus, remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate a community where all feel loved, accepted, and empowered to grow in their faith, carrying forward a legacy of healing and reconciliation for families and individuals alike.
